CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — People all over the Coastal Bend celebrated Valentine's Day Wednesday, and some even took that next step in their relationships.
The Nueces County courthouse kicked off the love-filled day officiating marriages in the morning. That is when Justice of the Peace Joe Benavides said his office was expecting about 15 couples to show up to be officially married.
One of those new couples, the Listers, told 3News they are excited for what's to come, but know that challenges may occur later down the road.
"It is going to be a struggle in a relationship, but you just gotta know how to handle it the right way. Of course, arguments. fighting and stuff, but if you really love that person you're willing to go through it with them no matter how hard or how easy it is."
As a special message for the newly wed couples, Benavides says he's excited for them and encourages them all to believe in each other and communicate with one another.
