Over 1000 TAMUCC students and alumni help the Coastal Bend

The Big Volunteer Event is a decade in the making.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) — The Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders spent their Saturday morning throughout the Coastal Bend for the annual Big Volunteer Event.

Over 1000 Islanders gave 4000 hours of collective volunteer work. Both students and alumni were assigned to 48 different volunteer sights, like the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center in Corpus Christi.

Volunteers helped with everything from yard work to filling up boxes of food at the Coastal Bend Food Bank. This year, the National Islander Association also sent volunteers to alumni cities like Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

For the past 10 years, TAMUCC has continued this event as a way for students and alumni to connect with the community and express gratitude for their support.
