Overnight road rage shooting near Annaville ends in arrest at police substation

This is the second road rage shooting 3NEWS has covered in the last week.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police Department officers have made an arrest in a road rage shooting that took place Saturday in the Calallen area on I-37 near Violet Road.

One of two vehicles pulled into the Annaville Police Sub-station on Tuloso Road, where a 35-year-old female driver told police that a black Chevrolet truck had cut her off while she was trying to enter the highway near Violet Road.

The truck began tailgating the woman's car before it's driver reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the back of her SUV several times.

The victim said she tried to get away, but the truck followed her, even as she pulled into the sub-station.

Officers arrested the driver of the truck for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The suspect was identified as 61-year-old James Jones.

The gun used was recovered from inside of the truck.
