Oyster lovers celebrate at Oyster Round-Up

The much sought after shellfish were served up fried, grilled and raw at the Water Street Oyster and Sushi Bar.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Oyster lovers made their way downtown Saturday, April 6, for the second annual Texas Oyster Round Up!

Attendees enjoyed live music, activities for kids, informational speakers and of course, plenty of oysters at the free event.

Alexis Opal, the marketing manager for Water Street Restaurants, said the round-up is a great way to educate the community on the importance of the species here in south Texas.

"We love oysters here in the Coastal Bend, and being able to shed some more light on how they actually benefit our water systems here is just a great opportunity," Opal said. "And of course, it's always fun to just round up the community and have a little party downtown."

Many hungry people showed up to slurp down the delicious shellfish at the round-up in our downtown district, which is also another element of the community that is growing and thriving.
