CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several fires in the Padre Island dunes started Tuesday night as revelers shot off fireworks.
Crews with Nueces County Emergency Service District 2, or ESD2, said they responded to several fires in the dunes off Park Road 22. All were extinguished by 11:20 p.m., officials said.
Investigators said they are still calculating just how many fires were started by fireworks on the July 4 holiday.
