The 'ring of fire' lasted for about five minutes in the Corpus Christi. Some viewers had problems seeing it, especially closer to the coast, due to spotty clouds.

The annular solar eclipse in Corpus Christi, Texas on Oct. 14, 2023.

A "ring of fire" annular solar eclipse crossed over South Texas and Corpus Christi on Saturday, as well as many other parts of the United States and world. But Corpus Christi was one of the very best places to watch on the planet. The moon's path crossed directly over downtown Corpus Christi, including the Whataburger Field parking lot and the Peoples Street T-Head.

Thousands of people watched the 3NEWS livestream of the eclipse and dozens sent us their photos. Parts of Corpus Christi had clouds blocking their view, but many other areas were a little bit luckier and got to see the full eclipse without any cloud interference.

An annular eclipse is when the moon passes between the Earth and sun but does not completely cover up the sun. That's because the moon is at or near its farthest point of orbit from Earth.

In Texas, Midland-Odessa and the San Antonio area also experienced the "ring of fire."
