CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several police units were called to Ray High School around 4 p.m. for reports of a student with a gun but an investigation revealed it was a toy gun, according to Corpus Christi ISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke.
A student was showing off an airsoft gun in front of Ray High School, which a witness mistook for a legitimate weapon and then called police.
All parties involved were immediately detained and an investigation revealed the gun was not real.
The student was released after police realized no crime was committed, Warnke said. Discipline will now be up to the school.
One person was arrested at the scene for interfering with the investigation, Warnke said. It is unclear if the person arrested was a student.
The airsoft gun was never displayed in a menacing manner and no one was in danger, Warnke said.
