Corpus Christi (KIII News) — The U.S. Secretary of Commerce announced Wednesday that a $5 million grant would be awarded to the city of Port Aransas.
The grant is awarded by the Economic Development Administration to help boost the recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
Part of the grant will be spent to acquire land needed to support city services.
The city will also be able to make improvements to the downtown marina like rebuilding docks, pavilion enhancements, and relocation of the harbor office.
The project is expected to help the city create and retain more than 130 jobs.
