Port Aransas lifting evacuation Monday morning, ferry to remain closed until further notice

In Port Aransas, the mandatory evacuation notice will be lifted Monday morning but the ferry system will be closed until further notice.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City officials declared a mandatory visitor evacuation ahead of Beryl but they will now be lifting that evacuation notice Monday at 8 a.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard closed the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to all marine traffic starting at 8 a.m. Sunday. However, they did grant special permission for Tx-DOT's Port Aransas Ferry System to operate until Sunday at noon.

They have since suspended all operations and have posted pictures of their crews immediately securing all vessels to make sure that they would be secured and in place where they needed to be.

The ferry will be closed until further notice. Until it reopens, the best place to travel is to take SH-361 to Corpus Christi.

We will keep you all updated for when the Port Aransas Ferry System will open again.
