More than 30 local groups attend Portland 'Boo Bash' to celebrate the spooky season

Kids in the Portland area got to enjoy a free night of games, obstacle courses,a scream contest, and the city's frightfully famous Trick-or-Treat trail.

PORTLAND, Texas — Young ghouls and witches made their way to the Portland Community Center complex for the Boo Bash festival on Saturday night.

Over thirty local groups were in attendance, handing out candy and resources for the community.

Kids in the Portland area got to enjoy a free night of games, activities, obstacle courses, and even a trick-or-treat trail and a scream contest!

Sheri Gagliano, Recreation Program Manager for the city of Portland spoke with 3NEWS about efforts to involve all members of the community for a night of fun to celebrate the spooky season. 

"We're trying to create a safe, family friendly event for people to come out. We invite our local businesses, as well as all the different departments of the city."

The city will be hosting their Boo Bash Triathlon next Saturday. 

Hundreds are expected to swim, bike and run all over Portland for the chance to win the boo bash triathlon medal.
