CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The city of Portland and the Portland chamber of commerce hosted the 49th annual Windfest this past weekend.
Windfest is one if the biggest fundraising events that takes place in Portland. It's origin comes from pioneer days in the early 70's. It serves to help raise funds for non-profits and for people to network.
The event this year hosted live entertainment, carnival rides and included a dachshund dash.
Organizers say this year was one of the most successful Windfests because of the growing community in Portland.
Dale Conoway, chairman Portland Chamber of Commerce board, said he's excited about the community's growth is already looking forward to next year's festival.
"The concert attendance has been through the roof. All the vendors are super happy. Their selling just tons of stuff, so as our community grows, this event grows and we're super excited about it. "
Next year, will mark the 50th annual Windfest.
The Portland chamber of commerce is has already began preparations to showcase a big celebration that attracts even more people to the event.
