CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A bypass in Premont has now reached a new milestone after more than one year of construction work, opening two southbound lanes Wednesday.

The project is designed to bypass traffic travelling on Hwy. 281 around the city, in an effort the Texas Department of Public Safety said at the time, was designed to improve public safety.
