Dr. Koonsam Im is a professor from a university in Japan who is trying to explain the problems between North Korea and the United States.

His lecture took place Friday at Texas A&M University-Kingsville as part of the school's International Affairs group lecture series.

"Actually I think North Korea thinks the United States is aggressive and at the same time they use propaganda of the anti-Americanism in order to control the North Korean people," Dr. Im said.

Dr. Im, originally from South Korea, was a researcher from Harvard. He has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a doctorate in international relations. His expertise was appreciated by some of the students who knew very little about why North Korea and the U.S. are always at odds.

Just days ago the toughest and most aggressive sanctions were launched by the U.S. against North Korea and were the latest salvo in a dispute many folks just don't understand.

"A lot of that stuff he was talking about, I wasn't really in tune to it. I really didn't know prior to him speaking, so I feel that informed me on a lot of things," student Torres Brown said.

With no end in sight to the war of words between the U.S. and North Korea, there is sure to be more issues to talk about in the future at the next lecture.
