Corpus Christi (KIII News) — Folks at the South Texas Botanical Gardens said they had spotted a rare bird Saturday at their Nature Center.
An adult Northern Jacana was spotted at the Center, and the last time the bird was sported in South Texas was in 2016 in Hidalgo County.
The breed usually visits during the fall, but bird watches found one foraging in the marsh vegetation. The sighting comes just before the gardens' Birdiest Festival in America which kicks off Thursday.
