Tuesday is last day to order remembrance wreath for grave of veteran buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery

The live, balsam fir wreaths are just $17 and are tax-deductible.

SAN ANTONIO — Every year, holiday wreaths are placed on the graves of veterans buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery but this year, there might not be enough for every grave.

David Bolser with Senior Veteran's Inc. said the wreath is a symbol no one will be left behind. He said as of Monday, Dec. 2, only 33,000 wreaths have been ordered. There are 182,000 graves at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

"The issue has always been, there's not enough wreaths for all of the graves, just for some," Bolser said.

The last day you can order a wreath to honor a veteran is Tuesday, Dec. 3. The wreaths will be placed on the graves at a public ceremony on Dec. 14.

"This is about remembering," he said. "This is about honoring. When was the last time a lot of these graves were visited? It could be years and years,"

"It is a community effort," Bolser added.

These live, balsam fir wreaths are just $17 and are tax-deductible.

"It is the fact, they will never be forgotten," Bolser said. "This is one time. This is one time of the year."
