Residents in Calallen and Robstown required to boil their water for over a week now

The public is still encouraged to boil their water until future notice, according to RAWS officials.

TEXAS, USA — Some residents in the Calallen and Robstown area say they've had to boil their water for over a week now.

Our Ashley Gonzalez talked with River Acres Water Supply officials this afternoon.

Ashley joins us live with what they had to say.

Ashley, how long can people in this area expect the need to boil their water

"Taylor--as of today, a spokesperson of 'RAWS' says customers in their system are still encouraged to boil their water until future notice," said 3News reporter, Ashley Gonzalez.

Going all the way back to last Saturday is when 'RAWS' discovered the chlorine levels in the water were slightly below the normal acceptable range.

Because of this, they issued a 'boil water notice'. 'RAWS' says they're currently working with its professional engineer to remedy the situation as expeditiously as possible.

"During this time, you may expect taste and color changes that can result from this disinfection treatment switch," said RAWS officials.

"The water system is acceptable for showering, bathing, washing dishes, and providing pets to drink," added officials from RAWS for those in their water system.

But they're still working to lift the boil water notice as soon as possible.
