CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Monday was the first day back at work for hundreds of employees at Sam Kane Beef in Calallen, Texas. It's the world's seventh largest beef processing plant.
The plant was recently bought out by a company called STX Beef after the previous owner went bankrupt. More than 700 employees were furloughed for about two months.
The plant reopened Monday after the new owners got permits and paperwork to operate again.
