CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Employees of Sam Kane Beef Processors gathered Tuesday morning at the closed down beef processing plant to find out when the company plans to reopen.
Sam Kane shut its doors in late January after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leaving employees without pay for some time. The business was later sold to the JDH Capital Company in February, the company saying it intends to make investments in the processing plant and continue to operate the business.
A meeting was held Tuesday morning at Sam Kane to brief employees about the new ownership and plans to get the plant back up and running. Employees who attended the meeting told 3News the plant would be reopened by the end of the month.
A second meeting with employees was scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday.
