Senior couples reminisce on lifetime of love at Brookdale Trinity Towers

Do you remember what it was like the moment you met significant other? These couples told 3News all about their decades-long love stories.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Love was in the air in the Coastal Bend -- but especially for a few residents at Brookdale Senior Living Valentine's Day.

Two couples who have been together for decades are celebrated Valentine's Day with 3News Wednesday.

Meet Claudia and John.

Their 72nd wedding anniversary is right around the corner in June.

The pair have traveled to 85 countries, but their biggest adventure has been spending their lives together.

It all started when John walked Claudia home from church one night.

"The second day she came to town, she was after me," John laughs.

Claudia says that it was John who made the first move in what would become their decades -long love story.

"I was staying for an activity and so she asked him to take me home. He had a date that night, but he got out of the car and escorted me to the door and asked me for my phone number."

Betty and Ray are another couple celebrating a lifetime of love.

Their wedding anniversary is later this year -- but Valentine's Day was the 70th anniversary of their proposal.

The pair enjoyed a beautiful wedding in Betty's mother's backyard, with all of the roses she had grown.

It's a precious memory she'll never forget.

"When I stood at the altar, as I walked down the aisle, I thought 'This is the most important time of my life. I must remember this.' and I do," said Betty. I actually remember the way Ray looked as we stood and took our vows. I remember how he looked as I walked towards him. I remember the congregation as we left."
