The Sherwin Alumina plant in Gregory is set to close on September 27th. That is according to a notice sent to area city governments.
The plant has been open since 1953. Some 2000 jobs could be affected. That's according to an earlier letter the company had sent out in February concerning the possibility of the plant being shutdown.
Sherwin Alumina locked out hundreds of workers back in October 2014 following a labor dispute. Workers have been standing outside the plant in Gregory everyday since the lockout. 3News is following this developing story and will have more information as it becomes available.
