CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The southern beach near Packery Channel is back open as crews continue with the Packery Channel Restoration Project.
So far, crews say over 106,500 cubic yards of sand have been added to nourish that section of the beach.
The additional sand has helped to widen the beach, providing a buffer against erosion from storms and tides.
Sections of the beach near the 219 marker remain closed to vehicles tonight as work continues further down the beach.
The project, that began back in January 2022, consists of repairs to shoreline protection, sidewalks, storm drains and other damaged structures.
