CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two are in the hospital and three have been arrested after a shooting Friday night.
Officers were sent to the 700 block of North Chaparral Street to respond to reports that multiple shots were fired and a subject was lying in the roadway.
After investigating, CCPD was able to determine that an altercation happened in a nearby bar and as the people involved were leaving a fight broke out in the roadway.
Upon arriving to the scene, officers found a 26-year-old male victim on the ground with severe head injuries.
Investigators said 26-year-old Jakob Martinez struck the victim several times with a weapon. 23-year-old Serena Alonzo and 26-year-old Maria Alonzo were also seen beating the victim while he was on the ground.
And while witnesses attempted to stop Martinez, he fired several shots from a weapon, missing the victim and accidentally striking Maria Alonzo in the leg, said CCPD.
Police officials said that all three were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and causing serious bodily injury. Maria Alonzo was taken to the hospital to treat her gunshot wound and once treated, she was taken into custody. Martinez was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
