CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One of NASA's very own made his way to Texas A&M University Kingsville to celebrate National 'TRIO Day'.
'TRIO Day' celebrates the TRIO programs that serve over 3,200 students with disadvantaged backgrounds by offering support and motivation to further their educational careers.
Former NASA Astronaut, Jose Hernandez suited up to help with their mission and inspire students to reach for the stars.
"It feels great because you feed off their energy," Hernandez said. "Each time I talk to kids like this it recharges my own batteries in knowing that I'm motivating them. And hoping to inspire the next generation of explorers."
TAMUK students said they felt connected with Hernandez as a person and more than just a guest speaker.
