CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Summer is coming to an end and families are heading to stores to get the kids ready for school. Parents are taking advantage of Tax-Free Weekend which started Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Erica Fuller, a mother of three, said this weekend not only helps her family save money but is also the perfect way for her children to start the new school year on the right note.
"Just saving, extra savings," Fuller said. "We spend a lot of money on clothes, and they grow so fast, so we definitely try to take advantage of everything."
The Smith family is shopping for Elizabeth, who is excited to start sixth grade.
"I bought a couple of clothes at Forever 21 and then I bought a pair of shoes and socks at Journeys," Smith said.
Fuller urges families to take advantage of this sales tax holiday.
"Of course not having to pay for taxes, every little bit helps," she said.
Although this is Tax-Free Weekend, not all items are tax-free. For a full list of eligible items that qualify this weekend, visit the Texas Comptroller website.
