'If you see something, say something' | CCPD searching for suspect in Thanksgiving Day shooting that left one dead

CCPD responded to the shooting at around 3 p.m. at the intersection of IH 37 and Navigation Blvd.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One man is dead in a Thanksgiving Day shooting and police are actively searching for the gunman responsible. 

Gunfire erupted just before 3 p.m. outside of a gas station at IH 37 and Navigation Blvd.

The deadly shooting, part of a series of emergency calls Thursday evening that kept responding officers busy across the city. Neighbors watched on as police swarmed the Donna Park neighborhood off I-37.

3NEWS spotted police officers from one end to another on Manchester Avenue. It's where CCPD also had a drone up above and were also using a K-9 officer. The massive search following a violent Thanksgiving Day shooting that took place a mile away down the road.

"Police responding to the shooting just before 3 pm here at the intersection of IH 37 and Navigation," said Senior Officer Antonio Contreras. 

"When they arrived, they located a male in the parking lot with a gunshot wound," Contreras said.

The victim was taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. In the meantime, crime tape surrounded the Circle K where the shots rang out.

Officers investigating the circumstances, centering their focus on a white Honda. Bullet casings were found on the ground nearby. Authorities tell 3NEWS the armed suspect fled the scene.

"They are reviewing video cameras and any possible witnesses right now" said Contreras. 

The police are not slowing down on this holiday.

"Crime doesn't stop and the police, we don't close, so be aware of your surroundings, be vigilant. If you see something, say something," he said.
