CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The community was able to see the many wonders of nature at the the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center Saturday.
The Open House event allowed the public to learn more about different aspects of nature.
Volunteers brought out live hermit crabs and shrimp in a touch-tank to expose the kids to the many creatures in our environment.
Tom Sullivan, a volunteer at the Preserve, explained that the Oso Bay Wetlands is a special gem in the Coastal Bend and it helps children build appreciation of the diversity of nature.
"You want to expose them to these things, right? That it's not scary, that actually their interest will grow in it," said volunteer at the Preserve, Tom Sullivan. "Right, so they are our future and we are gonna rely on them at some point and we want them to be good stewards."
