Free admission to the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History for those with SNAP or WIC card

The free SNAP or WIC admission can be enjoyed every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and starts Saturday during Weather Fest.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Some of the best attractions in the state can be found right here in our part of the Coastal Bend, and you don’t have to be a tourist to enjoy them. Whether inside or out, daytime or night, it seems there is plenty to do for anyone looking to experience a taste of life in South Texas.

When putting together your bucket list, you will want to include a stop at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. And now, thanks to a partnership with the national Museums for All initiative, more people than ever will be able to walk through our museum’s doors free of charge.

"This is open to anybody who has a SNAP or WIC card," Veronica Montez with the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History said. "When they arrive to the museum, they would just have to show their ID, their card and they would get admission for their family; up to six people of their household."

The free SNAP or WIC admission can be enjoyed every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and starts Saturday. That also happens to be the day that KIII will be joining with the museum to present Weather Fest!

"It’s just, again, to bring more awareness to our community about hurricane preparedness, about our local ecology and how weather plays a big part in it," Montez said.

You will be able to ask questions as the 3NEWS team of meteorologists bring the weather to life with live experiments and demonstrations. Kids will be invited to 'Color the Weather' and take their turn on the green screen, with a set-up that’s just like the one used every day in our KIII Studios.

June 1 is also the start of Hurricane Season, and those who attend will get a first look at our 2024 Hurricane Special before it airs on 3NEWS at 6:30 that evening.
