CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A woman is being evaluated after walking into the Corpus Christi Police Department on Monday and telling a municipal court security guard she thought someone had put a bomb in her car, CCPD said.
Officers closed off Chaparral Street between John Sartain Street and Coopers Alley to search her vehicle, with Corpus Christi Fire Department also on-scene as a precautionary measure.
A bomb squad officer in full protective gear searched the vehicle and found no evidence of a bomb.
The police department building was not evacuated, but did shelter in place.
Police are speaking with her to evaluate her mental health.
Sr. Ofc. Antonio Contreras said that CCPD responded as if there was actually a bomb at the site.
"We don't take anything lightly or as a joke, nothing like that, so we went ahead and went through the exact measures as if there was a real bomb," he said.
