CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As Beryl approaches the Coastal Bend, TxDOT is urging residents to prepare for the storm with its overhead digital signs on the roads.
The signs display an alert message telling people to "make preparations."
Rickey Dailey with TxDOT advises everyone to have a plan, know their evacuation routes and monitor the weather for the latest developments.
"It could intensify very quickly, you need to a plan, have a plan and work your plan," Dailey said. "Know your evacuation route, know what you need to take medicine and important papers, and have an evacuation route and look out for each other."
Dailey said TxDOT is doing everything they can to ensure people are safe, but encourages residents to be ready to move if it intensifies coming this way.
He also adds the Port Aransas ferry will be running as normal through the weekend and will continue as long as conditions allow or until the US Coast Guard shuts down the ship channel.
