USS Kingsville to be commissioned on Saturday

The ceremony will be livestreamed.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The USS Kingsville combat ship will be commissioned into the U.S. Navy at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Crews aboard the ship have been training and completing missions and told 3NEWS they are prepared for this weekend's commissioning. 

"These crews they have exceeded all expectations, completed every mission on the first try and now we are here safely in Corpus Christi ready to commission the ship," Commanding Officer CDR Ludwig Mann III said.

If you didn't register for the commissioning ceremony you can still attend the watch party at the JK Northway Expo Center with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

The USS Kingsville will be at the Port of Corpus Christi until Monday.
