CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The USS Kingsville is set to be officially commissioned Saturday in the Port of Corpus Christi and 3NEWS was there Friday morning to get a behind the scenes look aboard the ship.
The sailors of the USS Kingsville week-long trip to the Coastal Bend included a trip to Kingsville on Tuesday. They got to meet with the mayor of Kingsville, the president and CEO of the King Ranch, Robert Hodgens and tour the King Ranch.
Sailors also got the chance to meet member of the King Ranch family and ship sponsor, Kathy Kline.
The 415 ft. long combat ship will be headed to San Diego, California after its commissioned at the Port of Corpus Christi on Saturday.
