CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A victim is speaking out Wednesday about a veteran female Corpus Christi police officer who is accused of pretending to be a social worker for Child Protective Services.
In February, Norma DeLeon was arrested and is currently on administrative leave.
DeLeon is the fiance of Tommy Cabello who is the retired officer accused of domestic violence.
Currently, DeLeon is in trouble for posing as a CPS worker.
Back in November, DeLeon posed as a CPS caseworker at Joshua Barnes home to do a welfare check on his 8-year old daughter.
According to Barnes, it was late at night when he woke up to banging on his front door. Barnes was confronted by DeLeon and other officers who said they needed to check on his daughter.
DeLeon inspected the home and then woke up Barnes' daughter to question her. During the inspect DeLeon called someone on the phone that's when Barnes felt something was not right.
"Asked several times them to leave, she said she was here for child and child's family," Barnes said. "Said I have paperwork that I don't have to disclose my location my whereabouts where I live, she just started catching attitude saying I was lying. I'm trying to teach my kids police are here to help, when they break that trust, what are you showing them?"
Barnes showed the paperwork to officers who came with DeLeon, and that's when they told DeLeon they needed to leave. Barnes added that DeLeon and police officers also stopped by his relatives' homes and his child's school.
Barnes wants justice and doesn't want the incident to happen to any other family.
Currently, it is unknown if DeLeon and the child are related.
