Giving back to our veterans is a South Texas tradition, and one local business owner is honoring our troops one haircut at a time.

With a razor and comb, Denise Miller of Denise's Unlimited Salon carefully shapes and styles. Her special from Memorial Day through the Fourth of July is free cuts for veterans. She's been offering that service for 51-years.

"To me, every guy that goes into the military is special," Miller said. "When I can do this, I feel like maybe I'm making a tiny difference."

Milton Sherwood is a World War II Navy veteran, and has been a client for nearly five years.

"More and more should take advantage of it while she's doing it, because I don't know any other place doing it," Sherwood said.

Military tradition runs through Miller's sheers.

"My whole family is military. My three grandsons are Air Force, Army," Miller said.

When it comes to her free offer, Miller said both tipping and politics are out.

"I'm a staunch Republican, but first, I'm an American," Miller said.
