A Grand Jury in Jim Wells County has indicted a school teacher there on charges of stealing some $50,000 from the high school booster club.
Clarissa Garcia is a second-grade teacher at Schallert Elementary School in Alice. She is a former member of the booster club at the local high school and reportedly went on a two-year spending spree using the booster club's funds.
Booster club members reported to police in October that over $53,000 was missing from their fund. Garcia was the only person whose signature was on the account as the treasurer of the club. If convicted, she could face two-10 years in prison.
