CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Maritime Museum broke out the champagne Friday to celebrate 30 years of service.
The celebration kicked off around 5:30 p.m. and will continue all year long with events, programming and an open door for tourists who want to visit the facility.
One of their summer traditions is the SEA Camp, which stands for Summertime Experience in Aransas County, and the H20dyssey Camp. Both are free for children in Aransas County from first through fifth grades. Their quarterly History Happy Hour presentation will resume in August.
The Museum has successfully recovered from Hurricane Harvey and continues its mission to educate and entertain members of the public of all ages about Texas maritime history through exhibits. The museum has been fully accredited since August, which affirms that the museum has achieved the highest recognition for museums. It is also undergoing the re-accreditation process through the American Alliance of Museums in Washington, D.C., which signifies excellence in the museum community.
The Texas Maritime Museum is one of only 47 accredited museums in Texas and among 35,000 nationwide.
