Woman Injured in Boating Accident Scheduled to Undergo 3rd Surgery

We have an update tonight on the young woman who was critically injured during a boating accident over the weekend. We're told she is preparing to undergo her 3rd surgery on Thursday. We have an update tonight on the young woman who was critically injured during a boating accident over the weekend. We're told she is preparing to undergo her 3rd surgery on Thursday. The accident happened Sunday night around 8.

Officials with the Texas Parks and Wildlife say 24-year old Rebecca Chambers, and some friends, were headed back to a boat ramp at marker-37 on the intracoastal waterway when she somehow fell off the front of the boat they were in. She got caught by the engine prop, which wound up severing a leg below the knee.

Since we first aired Rebecca's story, hundreds of people have come forward with offers of help.

Tonight our Bill Churchwell spoke with her boyfriend, Jordan Schwabe who has been by her side at the hospital.

Schwabe said, "she a very strong person. One of the strongest women I know. She's very vibrant full of joy, great person as you can tell by all the support she has.

Jordan Schwabe is among those who have been by Rebecca's side at the hospital. Rebecca's boyfriend saying that her spirit remains strong despite the tragic accident that almost claimed her life.

Schwabe said, "quick thinking really did save her life, if she would have continued to lose blood might not have made it, the lord above was looking out for her that day and the people that are there with her."

The community has been there for her too. Her story generating a number of planned fundraising events from a t-shirt sale to an upcoming fishing tournament in order to help with her future medical needs.

In just 3 days, a Go Fund Me account in Rebecca's name, has already reached over $23,000 dollars.

Schwabe said, "we've had a lot of people come by, a lot of love the community. It's just unbelievable how everyone has been there for her and she is overwhelmed by all the support."

It's support she will continue to need as she is expected to undergo a 3rd surgery.
