CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nearly everyone is anticipating the annular solar eclipse to be magical Saturday, October 14. Businesses and organizations are all taking part in the special occasion.
Jessica Gentry is the volunteer and outreach manager at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. The Valero Eclipse Extravaganza promises to have hands-on stem activities, including solar ovens to learn about solar power.
“It’s going to be tons of fun and we’ll also have Corpus Christi Astronomical Society here to help us out, and understand all about what’s going on with our solar system,” Gentry said.
The museum will provide activities that will be fun for preschoolers on up to older kids and even adults leading to the full eclipse which will occur between 11:45 and noon.
"Not only will we have our telescopes and planetarium out, we will have science shows and water rocket demonstrations every hour," she said.
There will not be an 'out of this world' cost to the festivities at the museum. Regular admission is $12 for adults and $9 for children.
