HOUSTON — The Houston Cougars landed former five-star recruit Conner Weigman, the former Texas A&M starter.

"I’m coming home. Time to go to Work H-Town!!,"  said Weigman, who played his high school football at Bridgeland in the Cy-Fair ISD, announced to X on Wednesday night.

Weigman should give a boost to the University of Houston passing game for head coach Willie Fritz, who is in his second year on campus.

Weigman started the season at Texas A&M as the starter, but was replaced by Marcel Reed during the third quarter of A&M’s come-from-behind 38-23 win over LSU on Oct. 26. Reed went on to lead the Aggies on four straight scoring drives, inlcuding three rushing touchdowns.

Reed remained the starter after that, including the loss to Texas to end the regular season..

Weigman takes in Kyle Field one last time

Last night after the conclusion of Texas-Texas A&M, Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman walked the field in his uniform one last time. The former starter for A&M was replaced by Marcel Reed during the year, and is likely to enter the transfer portal to figure out what he'll do with his final two years of eligibility. He told our crew down there on the field that he wanted to just take in all that Kyle Field has to offer, one more time.

According to 247Sports.com, Weigman was the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2022 class. He was the No. 3 overall quarterback prospect and No. 4th ranked in Texas.

Weigman was part of the historic 2022 A&M class which was ranked No. 1 in the country and featured a total of eight 5-star prospects.

The transfer portal window opened. Dec. 9 and last until Dec. 28.

In 2023, Weigman started the first four games of the season before suffering a season-ending injury. He returned as the starter in 2024 but missed three games with a shoulder injury.

Reed filled in during his absence from the starting lineup. Weigman then started against No. 9 Missouri on Oct. 5, completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards, while adding 33 yards rushing on five carries in the 41-10 win.

Two weeks later, he went 15 of 25 for 217 yards and one score in the 34-24 win at Mississippi State.

In high school, Weigman led Bridgeland to the 6A Region II championship game and racked up 34 touchdowns and nearly 2,900 total yards during that season.
