1440 KEYS/MIC Sports Network awards athletes of the year

The radio station announced its male and female athlete of the year winners at their sports banquet Wednesday night.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Malkan Broadcasting, which runs the radio station 1440 KEYS, awarded its male and female athletes of the year Wednesday at their sports banquet.

3News' Chris Thomasson served the emcee for event, the 10th anniversary for the banquet. Malkan also runs the MIC Sports Network that calls various high school games live.

All of their athletes of the week were eligible to win awards with performances on the field or court being recognized as well as in the classroom. Gregory-Portland's Colton Harrison was named the male athlete of the year and Flour Bluff's Maggie Croft was named the female athlete of the year.

Former West Oso track star A'Keylah Mitchell was the keynote speaker as she was Malkan's first ever female athlete of the year.
