BANQUETE, Texas — As the preseason continues, the Banquete Bulldogs traveled to Three Rivers for a scrimmage this week.
Banquete Head Football Coach Lance Riddell said it gives his team a chance to see where they are at—and what they need to work on—ahead of the season.
The Bulldogs had many spots to fill on the roster last season. Riddell said players returning this season have more game experience, which helps with their growth and maturity.
"That experience has carried over to what we're doing this year and how we're preparing, and we have a lot of guys that are working multiple positions," Riddell said. "So, that will help with the depth issues that we have."
After missing the playoffs last year, Banquete found ways to improve this season. Riddell said many players worked hard in the weight room this summer. He added that they have a close team with a family-like atmosphere.
Banquete plays their first game of the season next Thursday against Freer.
