CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 2004 was the last time the Moody Trojans saw the postseason, one of the longest droughts in the state of Texas.
But that could change this season as Moody brings back a wealth of starters on both sides of the ball including "Slot T" running backs Adrian Luna and Kayden Dufour.
The Trojans were finally allowed by CCISD to play in the division they should have been in for the last several realignments, 5A D-II. That move combined with the fact that at least three CCISD teams are guaranteed playoff spots in their district means Moody might a legitimate shot at finally putting that long drought to bed.
"We definitely do talk about it very much," senior linebacker Adrian Ayala said. "20 years is a pretty long drought. So we're definitely getting very excited to try and make a difference around here."
"I think we've all been dealt a pretty good hand," Head Coach Mike Cantu said. "Four of the six teams go to the playoffs, so the odds are pretty good for Corpus Christi, no question."
Moody opens up on the road at Tuloso-Midway on August 30th. The Trojans close the regular season with three key district games against Ray, King and Carroll.
