PREMONT, Texas — The Premont Cowboys bring experience to the offensive and defensive line.
With young players at skill positions, Premont Head Football Coach Ruben Cantu said that they will mature this season. One way that they can do that, he said, is through experience as they make a push for the playoffs.
A hot start last year was cooled by a tough stretch in the middle of the season, which cost the Cowboys a playoff spot. As they contend with Refugio and Three Rivers in their district, Cantu said that they can not take anything for granted this season.
"We were hit big time last two years with injuries—key injuries," Cantu said. "So, obviously we've tried to do a better job as far as having more depth this year and having more guys ready considering you don't know when that's going to happen."
Cantu added that the Cowboys are excited to play a high level of competition in their district this year.
Premont plays their first game of the season against Monte Alto on Friday.
