KINGSVILLE, Texas — The Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions are coming off a year where they got off to a hot start, but fell off in district en route to a .500 season at 5-5.
The Lions bring back some experience on defense, but must replace about two-thirds of the offensive starters. Head Coach Frank Galvan says last year's midseason drop off didn't sit well with his players or staff as they look to get back into the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
The Lions open up the season at home at Javelina Stadium next Friday night against West Oso.
