CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Most teams would be happy with an area round appearance, but then again, most teams aren't the Veterans Memorial Eagles.
The second round exit was the earliest ever for Vets in its brief history after previously making at least the region semis every year since 2017.
It's a season of change for the Eagles both with having to replace over half their starters and with a brand new district that features almost all Valley teams, plus the return of a big rivalry game with Flour Bluff, aka the "Yorktown Showdown." The Eagles bookend their season with rivalry games: Vets opens with Miller, now a non-district game, and they'll end with the district match-up with the Hornets.
3News will have the Hornets' preview Tuesday night at six o'clock.
