CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Flour Bluff Hornets are no strangers to close finishes, especially over the last month of the season.
The Hornets have played two overtime games in their last four games and last week went down to the final minute in a 35-28 victory over previously unbeaten San Antonio Southwest. Now, Flour Bluff gets a 5A-I State Quarterfinal match-up with the defending state runner-up, the Smithson Valley Rangers.
3News caught up with the Hornets in Tuesday's rain-soaked practice and they say the confidence is through the roof that if the game is close late, they'll be able to come through. Flour Bluff and Smithson Valley will face off Saturday at 2 PM with a spot in the 5A-I State Semifinal on the line.
