The Coastal Bend Coaches' Association announced it's 2024 class for the Hall of Honor and two football coaches are set to be inducted.
Longtime area head coach Tim Holt is receiving the first honor. Holt had numerous head coaching stops in the Coastal Bend starting in 1991... Falfurrias, George West (twice), Gregory-Portland and Mathis among others outside the area. He passed away in October of 2021 and will be inducted posthumously.
The other inductee is current Veterans Memorial assistant Lanny Wilson. Coach Wilson has had a pretty lofty career himself, including assistant stints here in the area with Three Rivers and G-P in addition to Vets. Wilson was also the head coach at Harlingen South and Round Rock and while he was at the latter beat state-ranked #2 Lufkin in the playoffs who had future Dallas Cowboy Dez Bryant on the team.
Coach Holt and Coach Wilson will be inducted next Thursday night at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina. Chris Thomasson will be the emcee for the event for the third straight year.
