Former Calallen pitcher Kyle Hill to face Corpus Christi Hooks

Hill is a 2015 Calallen graduate who's back in town this week with the Arkansas Travelers.

Former 'Cats pitcher Kyle Hill is set to face the Hooks as he's a reliever with the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

It's been an uphill climb so to speak as Hill has dealt with arm injuries the last few years. As such, it's his first season in Double-A after five years of minor league baseball, but he says moments like returning home to play are what makes the past struggles worth it.

"Baseball has taught me that yes results matter, the game has it's own thing," Hill said Monday. "But it's relationship, it's family. That's my why. Pitching here at Whataburger Field in front of all my friends, family, old coaches and stuff like that, it's a surreal moment and I couldn't be more grateful to be here."

Since Kyle Hill is a reliever, he's not sure exactly what days he'll be pitching, But he is hoping to take the mound two or three times in the six day series that runs tomorrow through Sunday at Whataburger Field.
