Top-ranked Calallen softball returns to championship game with dominating performance

The Ladycats scored early and often in a win over #4 Sanger.

AUSTIN, Texas — The #1 Calallen Ladycats are now just one win away from being crowned back-to-back state champions after an 8-1 win over #4 Sanger Thursday in the 4A State Semifinal at McCombs Field at the Univeristy of Texas.

Calallen got a first inning RBI triple from Alaunah Almaraz and added four more in the second on RBI hits from Brookelynn Meador and Mia Flores. Sophomore Jordyn Thibodeaux threw a complete game on the mound with eight strikeouts and one earned run.

Calallen will take on #2 Liberty Saturday at 10 AM in a rematch of last year's championship game.

Brandon Schaff is with the Ladycats in Austin and will have more on 3News Friday at 6 PM.
