CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Record-breaking Ingleside High School receiver Jaydon “JC” Smith officially signed his letter of intent to play for the University of North Texas.
The Mustangs star will play wide back for the Mean Green Nation.
3NEWS first told you about JC in October, when he broke a school record for receiving touchdowns in a season, scoring more than 23 this season.
Tuesday, he shared why he decided on UNT.
"They’re all a great group of guys,” he said. “All the players are real friendly, real involved. That’s what I was looking for. The facilities are really nice. It's a great looking place."
JC plans to get his undergrad in ecology before heading to the West Coast to finish off a degree in biology.
He also wants to express to other local athletes the importance of being, not just a good player on the field, but also in the classroom.
