CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The London Pirates fell to the No. 10 Wall Hawks, 5-1 during their 3A state semifinal Friday.
The top-seeded Pirates (32-3-1), who made their third-straight state tournament appearance looking to repeat as state champions, were held to only two hits in Round Rock.
Wall (34-6-1) jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the third behind Hagyn Barbee's two-out, two-run single.
The Pirates got on the board after a weird sequence: Bradley Terry gets called out on strikes, but only after a balk, which brought in a run in the bottom of the fourth.
An RBI single by Wall put the Hawks up 3-1 in the top of the fifth.
Jacob Gonzales get London its first hit in the bottom of the fifth, but is stranded at the plate.
The Hawks' Caleb Braden finished putting the game out of reach with a two-run RBI single.
Wall will now face Boyd for the 3A state championship.
